We hope that the information provided on this site will promote further interest in the study of the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Come study with us! If you are in the Lakeland, Florida area, we would love to have you visit!
The objective of our congregation is to follow Jesus Christ in all that He teaches. Jesus tells us that we can be true disciples only when we live by His teaching (John 8:31-32). The Old Testament is a valuable source for such spiritual growth (Romans 15:4).
We study the whole Bible in our classes and constantly use it in our preaching. However, we recognize and follow the New Testament as the covenant through which Christ directs His people on how to live today. The New Testament is our guide in all matters of faith and practice.
We labor together as a congregation of God’s people, endeavoring to be the “One Faith” of the New Testament. The religious world of our day is one of chaos and confusion. Each year brings the birth of many new religious groups.
When the Lord Jesus Christ came to this world, He declared that He would build His church (Matthew 16:18). The results of His efforts as described in the New Testament produced “ONE” body (Ephesians 4:4) and “ONE” faith (Ephesians 4:5). While the Bible makes it clear that the Lord is not pleased with religious division (1 Corinthians 1:10 & John 17:20-21) it was prophesied that from among His own followers people would turn “away from the truth” (2 Timothy 4:3-4; Acts 20:28-30).
The Christians who make up this congregation firmly believe that if men and women commit themselves to following the Bible as their only guide, they will be one in Christ.
Paul described several groups of disciples as “churches of Christ” (Romans 16:16). We do not attempt to establish historical links with first-century churches. Rather, our claim is our close adherence to the principles Jesus and His apostles taught.
